KRA Announces Two-Day Downtime of ICMS for Maintenance

The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has announced a planned two-day maintenance of the Integrated Customs Management System (ICMS).

In a notice issued on Tuesday, March 24, the Authority said the system maintenance will start on Saturday, April 4, and run until Monday, April 6.

“KRA regrets any inconvenience caused and appreciates the cooperation of all stakeholders as we continue to improve service delivery,” the notice stated.

Stakeholders likely to be affected have been advised to submit urgent declarations, make payments, and clear cargo before the scheduled downtime. In addition, the Authority urged those dealing with perishable and time-sensitive consignments to clear their cargo early in order to reduce possible operational disruptions.

KRA also encouraged Kenyans to reach out through its customer support channels, including social media platforms, email, and phone calls, for any clarification. The announcement comes only days after the Authority reported a similar interruption on its iTax platform.

The platform is commonly used by Kenyans to file returns, make payments, and access a range of tax services. In a notice dated Saturday, March 21, KRA said the exercise lasted four hours on Sunday, March 22, 2026, from 6pm to 10pm.

That downtime was also part of routine system maintenance aimed at improving the performance, security, and reliability of the iTax system.
